Jean Envy

Jean Envy

Have you ever worn a pair of your jeans that, you thought looked fine until you stood next to or watched someone walk by who was wearing an awesome fitting pair of jeans? That is precisely what happened to me. I got a major case of jean envy while I wore my favorite pair of Express jeans to the movies. You know, from the Express stores at the mall. I loved those jeans and they looked pretty good on me but that darn woman's jeans fit her so perfectly that I was instantly jealous of her.

I'll never forget. It was a warm July night and that woman, in those hot jeans, got more attention than the girls who were wearing cut off shorts and mini skirts. Of course, I was too cool to come out and ask her what she was wearing, so I casually kept my eye on her until I memorized the jeans well enough to go searching for them on line.

That was my first brush with denim greatness. They were Seven For All Mankind jeans.
It turns out that Seven jeans don't really suit me and I don't even own a pair of them but they did send me on a quest to find my personal premium denim style.

Many people are unwilling to pay, what they think are exorbitant prices for premium denim. They don't realize that they will definitely get their money's worth when these premium jeans quicklyreplace whatever their favorite pair of jeans used to be. They will find themselves wearing those jeans over and over again because they love the way those jeans make them feel.

I didn't pay full price for my first pair. My first pair were James jeans. I bought them at an outlet store. I tried them on and fell in love. They seemed minimize my thighs and lift my butt. They gave me the figure that I always wanted, in a way that no other pair of jeans could. How is that possible? You ask. I believe that these designers have designing jeans down to a science.

Now I am the woman, at the movies, looking fierce in my jeans. You can be too. Purchase your first pair on clearance like I did. Then Hit me up, and let me know how it went.

Confidence Boost

Confidence Boost

After recently writing about skinny jeans tucked in to high heeled boost, I tested whether or not I could handle my sexy.

I wore my skinny jeans by Rich and Skinny (which are my favorite pair) with my brown leather high heel boots and what a confidence boost it was!!! For a woman who just gave birth to my third child seven weeks ago, I really needed it. I had been wearing only sweats and sneakers for the past seven weeks but not anymore. My husband couldn't keep his eyes or hands off of me. I also caused a whole bunch of head turnin', if I do say so myself.

A hot pair of jeans tucked in to a hot pair of leather boots gave me an instant confidence boost. And yes, I did handle my sexy.

Counterfeit Jeans: A Common Sense Way to Avoid Getting Burned

Counterfeit Jeans: A Common Sense Way To Avoid Getting Burned

There is quite a bit of a stir online regarding the sale of counterfeit premium denim by some unscrupulous retailers online and at some brick and mortar stores. Many of the articles are advising folks to protect themselves by only buying their denim from large department stores.

Though I find it despicable for counterfeiters to attempt to trick people into believing that they are purchasing the genuine article when they aren't, I also don't appreciate the scare tactics that are being used to steer business away from the "little guy". There are many reputable jean bars, boutiques and online "shops" that sell the very same denim and an even wider selection of brands than the department stores and at more reasonable prices.

The Simple Solution:

Buyers need to use their common sense when purchasing denim as they do with other purchases. Never purchase from anyone who does not offer a return policy. Also, try to avoid restocking fees, even though losing $10- $20 is much more bearable than losing the entire cost of the jeans. These jeans are too expensive to be stuck with, if you are not completely satisfied. This is especially true when you are purchasing online and have not tried the merchandise on. A return policy also, gives the buyer an opportunity to inspect the merchandise and verify that the jeans are, in fact, genuine.

When inspecting the jeans look for superior stitching on the inside and outside of the jeans. You should also look for precision pocket placement. If a pocket seems a little off, the jeans are probably fakes.

If you have any doubt, due to poor craftsmanship, return them. There are even some premium denim forums, which I am not affiliated with, where people, who aren't sure that their jeans are legit, send in photos and have the "experts" look them over for free.

Skinny Jeans

Don't be afraid to try skinny jeans on. Surprisingly enough, they look great on a range of body types. The more boyish figure with the smaller hips often look good when they pair their skinny jeans with flats. Curvier women look great when they wear their skinny jeans with heels and a babydoll or empire waist top. The heels also give the illusion of lengthening shorter legs and thinning wider hips.

Skinnys also look hot when worn with boots. They tuck in easily because the legs are already narrow. You can wear them with UGG type flat boots or heeled boots.

Caution: Skinny jeans (or any jeans for that matter) that are tucked into high heeled boots command a lot of, head turning, attention. Wear this style only if you can "handle your sexy".

Experiment with different brands and washes to find your you perfect fit.

The Right Denim For Your Body Type

Not all denim styles are for everyone but everyone can find the denim style that is right for them.

Here are some tips that can help you can use to maximize the good looks that God gave you and minimize any areas that you may not be "thrilled" with since we always find a way complain about our bodies.

Remember: Your body is not the problem, you just have to take the time to find the style of clothing that is right for you.

Shorter legs: Try jeans with a shorter inseam that are bootcut. When worn with heels they elongate the legs.

Smaller rear end: Jeans with flap pockets or embellished pockets give the appearance of a larger curvier backside.

Curvy with larger rear end: Try jeans with at least 2% stretch that give more room through the hips and butt area and bootcut with pockets. Avoid jeans with a lighter wash at the rear end
and avoid jeans with flap back pockets or no back pockets.

Joe's Jeans Honey Booty fit are a curvy girls best friend.

Larger thighs: Try jeans with a slightly darker wash on the outside of the leg at the thighs. This has a slimming affect.
Smaller hips/ boyish figure: Try Flare jeans or skinny jeans with a lower rise.
Wider hips: Try bootcut or flare jeans in a darker wash.
Larger mid-section: Try a nice mid rise jean like the James Jeans Hector, to the avoid the dreaded muffin top.

Lastly, If you see a pair of jeans that you like, do not be afraid to try them on even if they don't quite match the guidelines mentioned above. These are just tips that I find work for most people but there are some curvy girls, for example, who look awesome in a pair of flap pocket jeans. You'd also be surprised at how many different body types look great in skinny jeans when paired with the right shoes and top. We'll discuss this further in upcoming entries.

Once you've found your perfect premium denim fit you will experience a confidence boost like no other, knowing that you look good both coming and going.
